Schools for Lower-Middle-Class Families Become New Focus for Investors

Between 2013 and 2017, the number of students in public basic education schools fell by 8%, while enrollment in private schools grew by 7%. This trend is expected to continue strongly as the economy recovers—with projections indicating that 1 million students from preschool to high school will migrate to private schools over the next five years, according to consulting firm EY Parthenon. Given this scenario, educational groups and investors are turning their attention to the market for schools serving lower-middle-class families.
